Innovation in Sport & Wellbeing: A Game Changer for the Swansea Bay region

We recently hosted a panel discussion at the 4theRegion It’s Your Swansea Conference at the Swansea Arena.

It’s Your Swansea is a landmark Swansea conference and exhibition, giving local businesses and organisations the opportunity to connect with each other and find out about the ongoing regeneration of the city.

As part of the event, we hosted a panel discussion covering the importance of investing and appreciating innovation in sport and wellbeing across the region and beyond.
Our panel of experts:

  • Kate Williams, Head of Strategic Partnerships and Development at Wales Sports Partnership
  • Professor Keith Lloyd, Head of Swansea University Medical School and the National Network for Innovation in Sport & Health
  • Associate Professor Joanne Davies, Head of Simulation at Swansea University
  • Siôn Charles, Head of Strategy and Service Planning at ARCH

We discussed how fostering innovation in sport-tech and med-tech drives economic growth, improves public health, and fosters community resilience.

Prof. Keith Lloyd explored the intricate links between physical health and mental health: “there is no health without mental health,” while Kate Williams highlighted the importance of getting people moving more, without the pressure that can be associated with the word sport.
