Sensors for Health 2026

On 29 April 2026, Swansea University will host Sensors for Health 2026 – a cross-Faculty Interdisciplinary Research Institute Symposium designed to showcase and advance the latest developments in sensor technologies for health, sport and life sciences. The event, held on the University’s Bay Campus, will bring together academic researchers, industry partners and technology innovators to explore the rapidly evolving world of biosensing and its transformative potential.

Swansea University delivers world-class medical, bioengineering and biosciences research and offers dedicated opportunities for business incubation and technology transfer. Sensors that are used to gather data about the body or its surrounding environment permeate our lives in many ways. Whether in biosciences, medical diagnosis and monitoring, sports, physical activity or broader manufacturing sectors, sensors are becoming increasingly integrated into our daily lives.

As technology advances, more innovative applications for sensor devices in humans are becoming realised. Our vision is to encourage collaboration, innovation and advancements in health technologies through better multidisciplinary research partnerships.

Sensors for Health 2026 will focus on the development, testing and real-world translation of sensor technologies across:

  • Human health
  • Biomedical and clinical applications
  • Therapeutics and diagnostics
  • Sport and physical activity
  • Manufacturing and other life-science-aligned sectors

The event offers a valuable platform for researchers, industry partners, clinicians and data specialists to share expertise and explore opportunities for collaboration, including joint projects, technology transfer pathways and enhanced support for grant capture.
