We work closely with partners at the Institute of Life Science within Swansea University. The institute is an established and esteemed collection of unique organisations driving medical research for health, wealth and wellbeing in Wales.

As a member of the National Institute for Sport & Health, you will have access to all of the below services and facilities.

Health and Wellbeing Academy

The Health and Wellbeing Academy offers services like osteopathy, audiology, and cardiology (via referral only). It leverages the University’s research strengths for world-class teaching and community benefits.

Office Space

We have office space availability at Swansea University. If you are an individual or organisation in the sports tech, med tech, innovation or wellbeing sectors, and are interested the space, complete this form and we will be in touch.

Simulation and Immersive Learning Centre

SUSIM uses a variety of simulation-based education methodologies to support learners to reflect and develop through real world scenarios.

Clinical Imaging Facility

The CIF facilitates clinical research in pharmaceuticals in oncology, clinical application of MRI and the development of imaging based clinical pathways.

The highest standard of care is delivered in a safe and clean patient centred environment, with quick and flexible scan services, competitive pricing and a swift production of reports.

Swansea Centre for Health Economics

SCHE works with Swansea Trials Unit to apply health economics methods to real-world health policy and care issues. The team conducts research to provide actionable insights for practitioners, policymakers and managers.

They offer support services at all stages, process evaluation, and analysis of routine data to assess the economic impact of interventions.

With expertise in large datasets, complex interventions, and public health, SCHE estimates resource needs and evaluates cost-effectiveness.

Swansea Trials Unit

STU is a UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered clinical trials unit. The team has knowledge and expertise in the design and conduct of high quality, multicentre randomised trials and other research such as cohort studies, quasi-experimental research, qualitative research, surveys.

Joint Clinical Research Facility

JCRF aims to increase and deliver clinical research studies within the health board​ by evaluating new medicines, procedures​ and devices.

Analytical Technology

Analytical Technology uses mass spectrometry to analyse confocal equipment and pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and manufacturing samples.

Health Technology Centre

Funded by Welsh European Funding Office, HTC brought together partners from industry, academia, and the NHS together within the life sciences and healthcare settings. Its activities are now mainstreamed within NISH.

Health Data Science

Health Data Science is a growing and multi-disciplinary field which focuses on collections of individuals and their biological, economic, social, and environmental experiences.

AWEN Institute

The Awen Institute brought together leading researchers with older people and the creative industries to co-produce products, services and environments for an aging population. Its activities are now mainstreamed within NISH.
