Looking Ahead to 2025

In 2025, we will continue to advance our mission of fostering innovation and economic growth. Key highlights include:

• Sketty Lane Innovation Centre: Site preparation will commence, laying the groundwork for a cutting-edge facility that will support the development and testing of health and sports technology
• Morriston Hospital Management Centre: The design and tendering process for this state-of-the-art facility will progress, further enhancing the region’s capacity for innovation in healthcare
• National Network for Innovation in Sports and Health: We will expand our dynamic network, creating a vibrant community of professionals dedicated to advancing health technology

Transformational Projects Across the Region

We are proud to be part of the broader Swansea Bay City Deal, which achieved remarkable progress in 2024 and anticipates further milestones in 2025. Some of the key highlights include:

• Swansea City Centre: The opening of 71/72 Kingsway will create space for 600 tech and digital jobs, while UWTSD’s Innovation Matrix will connect academia and industry to foster start-ups and collaborations.
• Pentre Awel: This world-class facility will open in 2025, blending medical research, business incubation, education, and leisure to promote healthier lifestyles.
• Swansea Arena: Celebrating its third year, the arena will welcome its 750,000th guest with performances from renowned artists and diverse events.

Regional Progress Driving Economic Impact

Swansea Bay City Deal is also delivering transformative benefits across its other eight headline projects, including:

• Supporting Innovation and Low Carbon Growth: Plans for the SWITCH facility aim to decarbonise the steel and metals industry, while the Bay Technology Centre welcomes new tenants.
• Homes as Power Stations: Launching a £7 million Supply Chain Fund to integrate renewable technologies into homes, creating a sustainable future.
• Digital Infrastructure: Enhancing connectivity for homes and businesses across rural and urban areas, driving inward investment.
• Skills and Talent Programme: Supporting over 25 pilot projects, including the rollout of the Destination Renewables curriculum across the UK, to ensure the workforce is equipped with skills for the future.
