2-4pm | Thursday 27 February | Taliesin Mall Room, Singleton Campus, Swansea University
In partnership with Vodafone, we are excited to host a public engagement event that delves into the evolution of 5G, its role in advancing technology, and the tangible benefits it brings to our region.
Experts from industry and academia will address health and environmental challenges, demonstrating how 5G is making a positive impact on our region.
Speakers will also emphasise the importance of ongoing collaboration between the public and private sectors to fully leverage technology – enhancing community health, wellbeing, and social care outcomes while driving growth across these critical areas.
The event follows the announcement that Swansea University will work with Vodafone to deliver a 5G testbed spanning the University’s two campuses, Singleton and Morriston Hospitals, and parts of the city. The project is backed by Swansea Bay City Deal’s Digital Infrastructure programme.
“The Digital Infrastructure Programme is proud to support the aspirations of the Campuses project and is delighted to have awarded a £1.5m grant to the project from its 5G Innovation Fund. The funding will accelerate the world-first research and innovation environment for health and life sciences, to develop advanced solutions to current challenges faced by the sector.” – Rebecca Llewhellin, Project Manager, Digital infrastructure Programme
